30 Oct AEF and Violet Team up to Raise Money for Kids Fighting Cancer
Congratulations to The Austen Everett Foundation for a successful fund raising event! It was our pleasure to be a community sponsor of this year’s annual fundraiser for the Austen Everett Foundation. In the last year, AEF has helped over 500 kids in their battle against cancer. Through the generous donations of the attendees this number will be even greater in the coming year.
The star of the evening was six-year-old Violet Spataro, who completely stole the hearts of the audience with her charm, humor, and adorableness. Violet was just 6 months old when her parents discovered she had a tumor in her eye. She was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare pediatric type of cancer that develops in the retina. Thankfully today, Violet is healthy and in remission. Together with Seattle Reign forward Beverly Yanez, she talked about the impact of childhood cancer on families and what it means to be a fighter. Violet describes herself as a warrior kid and has great compassion for families fighting cancer. Her advice was to not let fear win and to have faith.
